Support
In development by a solo Australian developer. Most problems come down to step permissions, so start there. If it is something else, get in touch and include your phone model and Android version; it saves a round trip.
Get in touch
You can reach us by email at support@stridefall.com.
One person answers these, so please allow a few days. Bugs with steps to reproduce them go to the top of the pile.
Steps are not counting
On Android the game reads steps through Health Connect, so both halves have to be in place:
- Health Connect is installed. On Android 14 and later it is part of the system. On Android 13 and earlier it is an app from the Play Store, and until it is installed the game will say "Not tracking" and the Enable button will not be able to ask for permission.
- The game has permission to read steps. In the app, open Settings and look at the Step tracking section; it says which source is active. Tap Enable to ask again. You can also check in Health Connect under App permissions.
- Something is writing steps into Health Connect. Health Connect is a store, not a sensor. Your phone's own step counter, or an app such as Google Fit or Samsung Health, has to be recording into it. Open Health Connect and check that Steps has data for today.
On iOS, steps come from the Motion permission. If you declined it, turn it on under Settings, Privacy & Security, Motion & Fitness.
Steps I took with the app closed
They are not lost. When you open the game it asks the health platform for everything since it last looked and banks it. Steps taken while the app is closed spend at double rate when you return, which is a feature, not a bug. If the "While you were away" screen says no background data was available, the health platform had no records for that window; see the section above.
Cloud saves and moving phones
Sign in with the same account on the new phone, then open Settings, Account, and tap Restore from cloud. The game backs up automatically whenever it goes into the background, and you can force one with Back up now before you switch. Playing without an account keeps your save on that phone only.
Strava
Strava is optional and only used for races that accept real runs. Connect or disconnect it under Settings. If a run is not showing, check that it is recorded as a Run in Strava and that it started inside the race window; the game only reads the short window around each race. Disconnecting in the game and revoking Stridefall in Strava's settings are two separate steps.
Deleting your data or account
The account deletion page covers both the in-app option and how to have the account itself removed.
Reporting a bug
Include as much of this as you can:
- What you did, what you expected, what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if there is anything to see.
- Phone model and Android or iOS version.
- Whether you are signed in, and whether step tracking says it is active.
Cheating reports are welcome too, with the account name and what you saw. We check the fair play records before acting on any of them.
